The Benefits of Gluten Free Oats
Most people love the taste of oats and did you know, people who have a gluten intolerance or coeliac disease can safely consume gluten-free oats. However, problems can occur if oats are produced in the same place as wheat, barley and rye, as the oats can become contaminated with these other grains. Since we want our customers to enjoy their favourite foods again without getting sick, we can safely say that any oats used in our products are made with certified gluten-free oats. Hooray!
So, what are the benefits of Gluten-Free Oats?
Energy:
Like most grains, gluten-free oats are a powerhouse of energy with about 66 grams of carbohydrates for every 100 gram serving, that’s just two slices of BFree Oaty Loaf!
Heart Protection:
As a nation with many sufferers of high cholesterol, oats are also a good source of soluble fibre. Inside your digestive system, soluble fibre attaches to cholesterol particles and takes them out of the body, helping to reduce overall cholesterol levels and the risk of heart disease.
Diabetes Protection:
Also, since soluble fibre isn’t well absorbed, it doesn’t contribute to the blood sugar spikes that can put you at risk for type 2 diabetes and heart disease. Even if you already have diabetes (either type 1 or type 2) soluble fibre can help keep your condition under control.
And lastly…..
Immune System:
One specific type of fibre found in oats is beta-glucan. This type of fibre helps your immune cells find and get to sites of infection quicker as it raises your immune system’s response.
