Custard Toasts

Serves 6

6 slices Bfree sourdough

1 egg

½ cup plain Greek yogurt

1 tsp vanilla bean paste or extract

2 tbs maple syrup

A couple of handfuls of berries or sliced fruit, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, peaches, mango.

1 tbs icing sugar to dust


Pre heat the oven to 180°C Fan


Line a baking tray with foil or parchment.


Add the slices of bread and with your fingers or the back of a spoon press the bread in the middle to form a pool.


In a bowl whisk together the egg, yogurt, vanilla and maple until smooth and combine.


Divide the mix between each slice of bread to make a custard puddle.


Top with berries or sliced fruit and place in the oven. Bake for about 15 minutes, until the bread is crisp, and the custard has set and puffed up a little.


Remove from the oven and dust with icing sugar.

With some of the gluten free pittas you just end up as a piece of flat bread. These ones actually puff up in the toaster and act just like the normal gluteny ones. We buy them all the time, they’re great.


As a lover of all things pita bread and pita chips I was blown away by the taste and texture of Bfree pitas! I usually split em and fill em up with my favourite veggies, hummus and chicken then drizzle with tzatziki sauce and it reminds me the Greek restaurant I used to love so much as a kid! Definitely a must try for all my pita lovers out there.


I have tried so many BFree products and they are all so good. My personal favorite is the Pita Bread. It is such a unique bread for being gluten free and I have never seen another brand make the same. It tastes incredible I love them. Thank you for creating such amazing gluten free breads!


A perfectly gooey brownie slice! The salted caramel wasn’t super obvious, but an absolutely delicious gluten free brownie nonetheless!
